Deaths Due to No Health Insurance
April 8th, 2008
Families USA just released a study providing state-by-state estimates of deaths due to lack of health insurance coverage. These estimates are provided based on statistics from the Urban Institute and the Institute of Medicine. A quick look did not explain how they determine that a death would have been prevented by having adequate health insurance, but the statistic that serves as the foundation of the estimates is 22,000 deaths in the USA in 2006 due to lack of health insurance. State-by-State estimates can be viewed here. The estimate for QuoteCorral’s home state of Ohio was two deaths per day.
